U10 Girls Narrowly miss out on final

The U10 Girls A and B teams played in the Middlesex tournament at the weekend. The B team played very well, I had nothing but good feedback about the way they played. Unfortunately it is never going to be easy being a B team in an A team tournament and we got knocked out in the group stages. However, the girls hockey has improved incredibly throughout this season with there skills and techniques continuously improving. Although we did not win, I think it was a great opportunity for the girls to be involved in and that they all had a wonderful day despite the weather. I am sure that next year many of them will get to compete in the tournament again and many of them in the A team. I think that the girls in the B’s did themselves and the club proud with their strong performance. As for the A team, I couldn’t be prouder of the girls. I know that a lot of them were upset when we got knocked out in the Semi-Finals. But, to me, Phil and everyone else that watched them play they were the best team at the tournament by far. The girls did not concede a single goal in game play during the tournament and scored an amazing 7 goals throughout the day. Everyone of the girls played the best I have seen them play all season, will Cecily our superstar goalkeeper not letting a shot past her. Astrid and Rosie were a great defensive team, with Sophie, Riley, Sabi, Katie, Imogen, and Izzy creating a strong midfield, and Jess being the goal scorer of the day. Again I cannot stress how proud I am of the girls and there improvement over the season. There individual skills have come so far with them moving and protecting the ball, along with there passes being more accurate and stronger. The girls should be incredibly proud of themselves, they showed everyone that they are the team to beat. And I am in no doubt that all of them moving up to the U12’s next year will show the older girls a thing or two. Again, well done to everyone who competed in the tournament and lets make the rest of the season one to remember.
