Teddington Hockey Club Juniors section is a thriving part of the oldest hockey club in the world with over 450 junior member ranging from ages 5 to 18 playing and training every week of the season.
Most juniors join the club at an early age and stay as life-long members of the club, growing up to play for the Ladies or Men’s teams. This unique family spirit within Teddington Hockey is key to the overall ethos of the junior section where friendships are forged and maintained for life. Our aim is to develop every player to the best of their ability, ensuring a life long love of the game at all times and learning that playing should always be fun and winning is even better.
Squads are organized in line with England Hockey’s age groups based upon their age on the 1st September each year i.e. u6, u8, u10, u12, u14, u16 and u18. In general everyone in an age group trains at the same time, albeit in different teams at the older age groups.
Teams enter either the England Hockey Cup, Mercian Home Counties Colts (boys) or Home Counties Girls’ leagues. For information on specific age groups and the key training objectives of each group please click on the teams below.
Teddington relies on a squad of qualified volunteer coaches, most of whom are parents of current or last junior players. The club also has several professional coaches many of whom have played hockey at a National League or sometimes International level. All coaches are DBS checked and continually improving coaching standards is a key feature of Teddington’s plan for Junior hockey.
